The Australian Team returned to Australia in October 1948 on the “RMS Orontes”, docking at Fremantle WA, to unprecedented national acclaim. During this unprecedented tour the team played 34 Games remaining undefeated.
Having presented over 200 ‘Sportsmen’s Shows’ throughout Australia, featuring Invincibles Neil Harvey and Sam Loxton, I forged a friendship with both men that I hold most dearly. Ironically on the return voyage, as the son of Sidney George Barnes the Invincibles champion opening batsman, I turned ‘1’ and Neil Harvey turned ‘20’ in October.
We have assembled a unique and fitting tribute to this wonderful team of cricketing royalty, and we invite you to share with your friends, patrons and loyal customers, this celebration of our rich Cricket history.
